Welcome to the New Sharon United Methodist Church where we strive to keep life simple by loving God, loving others, and making disciples. We are a dynamic, fun, and authentic congregation being transformed by the Holy Spirit, so we can share the message of Christ and transform the world.
If you have never been to church or haven't been to church in a long time, let me extend a special invitation for you to come and join us. I know some people have been hurt from previous church relationships or have experienced church as an empty "my parents made me go" event. Regardless of your past experiences, I hope you will give us the opportunity to show the love of Jesus for you.
The New Sharon United Methodist Church is a church in action. Each week 80 elementary children gather for worship, learning, and fun at GEMS and Cadets. Seventy Jr. & Sr. High students meet for PROS (Persons Relying on Our Savior) on Thursday evenings. Our worship services connect people with God and offer relevant Biblical messages. We offer a variety of opportunities to build relationships with other believers both during our Sunday morning classes and throughout the week. Our Beginnings course gives people the opportunity to ask questions of faith in a safe, friendly environment and Financial Peace University helps people break the chains of debt and live free from financial anxiety. The New Sharon Community Food Pantry is located at our McVay Family Center and we give assistance to our neighbors in need through the Financial Assistance Support Team (FAST) Fund.
Our ministries extend far beyond the boundaries of New Sharon. We actively support the work of Safe Water International Ministries and have recently taken on the responsibility of supporting "Jesus Our Potter" school in Condega, Nicaragua. Our members regularly travel to Nicaragua to provide hands-on aid to these ministries. Each summer a group of teenagers and adults travel to a location in the Midwest to give a week of their time at TeenServe. Our Kit of the Month Club gathers relief kits which are transported to all corners of the globe.
There's so much more I'd like to tell you. I hope you will join us and experience what life is like living in an active community of faith.
Grace and Peace,
John
